UNDERCOVER
Perhaps our favorite designer, Jun Takahashi of UNDERCOVER stands in a league of his own. Season after season, an inimitable blend of references — ranging from punk rock to to baroque aesthetics to vintage American memorabilia — are showcased on his runway shows, which seem to be more hybrids of theatre productions and art performances than your average fashion show. Thom Yorke sometimes provides soundtracks for the shows, which makes sense, considering that Takahashi’s biggest inspiration is music. As their motto goes: “We make noise, not clothes.”
